Playback Truncation of .WAV/.MP3 Files?

I have a couple of small .WAV and .MP3 files (only a few seconds long). I notice that when VLC Media Player 1.0.5 plays them, it does not play quite all of the sound file (it stops just before the end of the file). If I try the same files in another player, they play fine in their entirety.
Could you please advise why this happens? Is this a known issue, and can it be fixed?
Thanks.

That's a known issue, which may be fixed in the forthcoming 1.1 release of VLC. No warranty, though.

Thanks for clarifying this.

I am still having this problem with version 1.1.4.
i.e. The MP3 file stops playing a few seconds before the end with VLC. But the very same file plays right until the end in Windows Media Player.
Any update on this bug?
Thanks.

now all play like they should be
(i tried vlc 1.2.0. 20101101-0002 because latest version from 28. is unable to playback any file)

Thanks for your replies.
I'm a little uncertain about the version numbers. I have version 1.1.4 installed. However, when I use the built-in update check it says that I already have the latest version.
The latest version for download on the VLC site is 1.1.5 (vlc-1.1.5-win32.exe). So not sure about 1.2.0 (is it a beta version?).
Can anyone shed any light on the version numbers?

1.1.5 is the latest official version
1.2.0 are nightly versions (or beta if u like) and are updated daily
they can be found here
http://nightlies.videolan.org/
but some 1.2.0 versions can be unstable or are unable to playback any file

Thanks for your help.
I think I'll wait for the official release of 1.2.0 before testing this.
I'm still not sure why the built-in update check says 1.1.4 is the latest version (maybe 1.1.5 is not scheduled for automatic updates yet, or there is some bug?), but I'll download and install the new 1.1.5 manually from the site.

That is going to take months.

VLC 1.1.5 isn't shared via automatic updates yet.

I've just installed the latest release (1.1.7), and the problem is still persisting. i.e. The sound file playback is truncated in VLC, but not Windows Media Player.
Hopefully, this will be fixed when I get 1.2.0. Any ideas when it will be ready for official release?

Simplest thing to do is to stop using it. Too many problems that are not sorted or just shouldnt happen in the fist place like all of a sudden video files playing in Direct 3D mode with a screen and seperate audio....without any imput from me I may add. Now this one which I find severely annoying. Dawm Pot player for me I'm afraid. never coming back to VLC.
