VLC Podcasts via Command Line

Postby roteno » 22 Mar 2010 03:35

Hello,

I am trying to play the latest podcasts using VLC via the command line only. I am trying to avoid using the GUI.

So far this is what I have come up with:
vlc -S podcast --podcast-urls "http://feeds.twis.org/twis/science/|htt ... s/twit.xml"

The command above adds two podcasts to the playlist window.

What do I have to add to the command to get it to actually play the latest podcast from either?

Thanks for reading.

The playback should start automatically. You could try --playlist-autostart but I don't know if it will help.

Hi VLC_Help,

Thanks for the reply. That didn't work. Has anyone successfully played a single song from a playlist via the command line? I imagine the commands used to play items within a playlist will be similar to the podcasts found after discovery. For my case I only want to play the newest item. Something like --playitem:0.

Thanks for reading!

Well, nearly 10 years on, anyone figured out a way to get VLC to play a Podcast via the command line?
