Help on compiling VLC in windows ./bootstrap not found

Postby x_tine » 07 Mar 2010 09:07

Hello,

I'm a very beginner in this MSYS + MIngW environment and i'm having problem following the tutorial on

http://wiki.videolan.org/Win32CompileMSYS

I got stuck on bootsraping

Code: Select all

cp -v /usr/win32/share/aclocal/* m4/ cp -v /usr/share/aclocal/* m4/ PATH=/usr/win32/bin:$PATH ./bootstrap
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

is bootstrap foun on /usr/win32/bin?
or what does this statement mean

Code: Select all

PATH=/usr/win32/bin:$PATH ./bootstrap
specifically the bold part PATH=/usr/win32/bin:$PATH ./bootstrap
I don't know how to answer it coz i dont know where to look for the problem. Help... :(

I'm doing a study on how to improve an algorithm in x264 and before i could proceed i have to understand how to compile and build vlc and x264.

By the way I'm using windows xp and windows 7. and the Msys and Mingw versions are those that are stated on the tutorial.
