VLC Directshow Issues

VLC makes a great Video Player, no need to think and everything will be done for you.

However when you try and use a capture card as the source you had better know what you are doing because the assistance drops away.
Using directshow with the default settings will cause VLC to open your directshow interface at 320x200 with a 300ms lag time which is quite unhelpful when your using the line function of your sound card i should also note that adjusting the buffer value has absoloutley no effect on the buffer size that VLC uses.

If you force 720x576 (analog PAL interlaced signal) and you force colour space YUY2 then you will be able to watch you analog input without any buffer (as i suspect that VLC internal buffing cannot 'contain' YUY2). But you will not be able to select any deinterlacing filters as VLC 'cannot'(or wont, or doesnt know how) convert the colour depth and when you try selecting any deinterlacing filter VLC will drop video output totally.

So i'll make my plea for help now.
Please Please!
Id like to see more VLC support for buffer lengths/colour depth conversions/DeInterlacing.

Why is this important? Try pluging in any video console in my situation the console is a ps2. Now try playing a game with a 300ms delay. Then try a driving game where you have to look off into the distance and immediatley the interlacing issue becomes apparent. Vlc is such a great program, it is so frustrating that i cannot tell it to do what i want.

Yes it worked well with my pci BT878 card however now i'm using usb capture device as my new mainboard lacks pci. Dscaler doesnt talk directshow very well. It can speak basic directshow but when it comes to configureing directshow dscaler leaves a lot to be desired(like the ability to suggest colour depths and the ability to tell it not to request channel/source information and just use the default). So how hard is it to use directshows deinterlacing filters(tomsmocomp) with vlc? Or is it possible to use FFDshows filters in conjunction with VLC? Or is there any other method for influenceing video playback via a 3rd party plugin with VLC? I can get VLC to run my capture card at 720x576xYUY2 but dscaler no go.

Both are impossible with current VLC builds. Someone was modifying graph filter stuff, but I can't find the thread were the discussion was.

One could create filter like that.
