VLC 1.0.5 32-bit crashed (Visualization - Groom)

Steps to replicate:
Run/start VLC 1.0.5 32-bit
Display playlist.
Drag any MP3 to the playlist.
Play music
From the menu bar -> Audio -> Visualizations -> Groom.
VLC self terminated.

From the menu bar -> Audio -> Visualizations -> Groom.
I assume you mean Goom. It works fine.

You could try to remove %appdata%\vlc folder. If that doesn't help, try other video output modules
