Change ''My Documents'' to something else

I have a special file where I keep all of my music videos. It is buried deep inside my computer.

Previously, I clicked on ''Media'' and ''Open File...'' on my VLC media player and there were my music videos. This is no longer the case after I upgraded to the VLC media player version 1.0.5.

Now when I click on ''Media'' and ''Open File...'', I get the ''My Documents'' file. My music videos are not in ''My Documents'' or anywhere near there. So now I have to click about eight times to get to my music videos. Sometimes, after a long day, I have to click more than eight times because I keep making mistakes when I click.

I can't seem to put it it back the way it was. Any ideas?

I have Windows XP with Service Pack 3.

Also, I would like to thank everyone involved with the VLC media player project. It's a great player and much better than some others that we all know about.

When you click on Open File, VLC should be displaying the location of your last opened file.

e.g. If I open a file in VLC from say F:\Data\Music\320kbps-MP3s\ , then close VLC, then start VLC again, then the next time I click on Open File again, VLC should default to F:\Data\Music\320kbps-MP3s\.

Isn't this behaviour happening to you?

I thank you for your reply.

When I closed everything up and maybe shut everything down including my computer, the the next time I clicked on ''Media'' and ''Open file...'', I kept getting the ''My Documents'' file regardless of what was opened when I shut everything down. I realise this is not typical behaviour for Windows.

I continued to work on the problem after I made my last post. I shut my computer off and turned it back on a few times. I was getting ready to re-intall the upgrade when the original problem mysteriously went away! Everything is fine now!

I suspect there may have been a glitch in my upgraded installation?

Best wishes,
Ira

The location is stored to %appdata%\vlc\vlc-qt-interface.ini and it is called filedialog-path= and if it gets corrupted, VLC defaults to My Document
