Wierd playlist bug

Hello! Recently I have been getting a very wierd bug with my VLC playlists, where when I add a file to the playlist, it will add a number of unrelated files as well, for example: I drag and drop a video file to my VLC playlist, and it adds all the video files in another directory at the same location to the playlist. If I delete these files from my playlist they will "magically" reappear when playing the original item... anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

Seems to happen mostly/only with mkv

Removal of %appdata\vlc% folder helps?
