Windows hang

Postby daemolisher » 04 Feb 2010 20:50

When I look video-files all functions work normally.
But when I press "Stop" in some seconds the Windows hang up.
The mouse does not move.
Does not open taskmgr.
The keyboard does not work:
Keys Caps Lock and Num Lock are not pressed.
Moreover, if to press "Stop" and to quit a player (the player is completed correctly, without errors) the Windows all the same hang up in some seconds!
On the screen the picture stiffens.
The only thing that can be made is to press "reset"!!!
The video-file is on hard disk FAT32.
I can copy this file on flash-drive and look on a DVD-player without any problems.

I used vlc-0.8.6i-win32 and vlc-1.0.5-win32
Windows XP Pro SP 2
On a hard disk there are three partitions:
Two partitions are formatted under NTFS (here are installed Windows and VLC-player)
And one is formatted under FAT32

Help me

Num Lock.

Windows XP Pro SP 2

Driver or hardware issue. VLC cannot freeze your system. Broken hardware or buggy drivers can.

I have istalled VLC 1.0.5 on two systems (XP Pro and Win 7 Home Premium. When I press stop VLC hangs (not responding) I have to close the application from the taskbar or Task Manager. I would say that VLC is waiting for an event which will never arrive. This happens both on a Dual Screen or Single screen environment. Note it is NOT a WIndows hang but a VLC hang.

Have you tested VLC 1.1.0 nightly builds?
http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win32/?C=M;O=D branches are 1.1.0

I have just downloaded old version 1.0.3 and this problem does not occur with that version. Please can 1.0.5 be fixed as soon as possible.

I have also downloaded the latest nightly build (4May from Branch) and the problem has been fixed in that version.

Thanks

Cool, wait for 1.1.0 to be out then.
