I enabled skins in interface and chose the default.vlt Now however hotkeys won't work. I've looked around the options i can't find anything.

Hotkeys should work with skins exactly as they work with qt4 interface. (same keys, same actions)
The hotkeys susbsystem is independent of the GUI interface.
OS ? vlc version ? you may be using a wrong or broken version.

skin won't come off... thinking theres something deeper here going to reinstall

Removing %appdata%\vlc folder is easier.here going to reinstall
