Hello, I have just upgraded to 1.0.3 & as I was messing about with the user interface I clicked on Add Interface I think I slipped or something but I accidentally clicked on Telnet Interface, the next thing I know my anti-virus (MaCafee) is wanting to know if I should allow something or other. I wasn't sure what to do & allowed whatever it was. I didn't know what else to do & I could not cancel either. Could someone please explain to me what this was. My knowledge of computers is not great.

Telnet interface is way to control VLC via telnet client. Telnet can be accessed via network, so you could control VLC from any computer connected to internet. That is why your security software asks should it allow traffic to VLC.

OK, thanks for the information. I was not sure what to do & allowed access to my computer. Is this a possible security problem for me now?

Telnet interface should vanish after you close VLC. And if you are behind firewall or NAT nobody can access the interface.

OK, thanks for the information. I have both software & hardware firewalls (in router/hub) so I should be OK. :D
