Default Web videoplayer plugin?

Hi. I was just thinking, is there a way to make vlc player the default player for videos opened from the web pages.
Like for example I click this (happy three frens) or (insert title here) wadever video link and instead of it opening up with windows media player or some stupid realplayer, it opens with vlc. Ive been having a problem with google chrome that says the video component fails to load the video or music then it spams error messages. So I wan to know if anyone can help me. thanks.
