Help with audio setting

ive encountered audio issue that is also covered in videolanwiki: http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-1.0 ... d_problems
I don't hear dialog, conversations etc. while playing 5.1 audio

Make sure you have select proper speaker setup from Windows audio settings or from soundcard control panel. If you have done so, make sure VLC also has right settings. Audio -> Audio Device to select proper speaker settings during playback.
i use headphones and if i leave under audio/output modules/directx->speaker configuration windows default or choose anything else i cant hear conversations except if i enable headphone surround effect. headphones are properly set in both windows settings and in soundcard control panel.

is hte headphone surround effect the correct solution or am i missing a setting somewhere?

thanx in advance

Happens with all files or just with certain ones?

actually this is the first time ive had this issue and it is related to only one specific file (mkv). all other 5.1 audio files are playing properly.

AC3 3.1 channelorder should be fixed in 1.1.0 release.
