Question about Multicast Streams with Mosaic

Postby rellish » 01 Oct 2009 20:14

Hopefully this is an easy fix error on my part, but I currently have multiple multicast streams coming out of encoders. I was using multiple instances of VLC to view these before i found that Mosaic supported this with one instance. I have searched to find my answer before posting but can't seem to figure it out. I have used the web interface to generate the code and it seems to be working and the videos are counting secs but the only image i see is the background image. Is there something that i am missing. I have posted my commands below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

I figured out what i was doing wrong i didn't put a @ on udp://@229.1.1.41:5411

Now i'm having an issue where VLC is crashing. CPU util is only hanging around 70% with 6 sources playing. Memory is at about 25%. But it is still crashing after a few minutes. Is there a log to check or buffer that is making it crash?

Thanks
To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

It seems there is something crashing with VLC, how do you pull the logs without it crashing and having them disappear? I can view it happening with the Messages and setting when setting it to verbose 2, just need to save it before it disappears. What command do you type to accomplish this?

Thanks

AFAIK the file logging is still broken under Win32. gdb is one option that you use, if you can run VLC under Cygwin.

The error i'm seeing is:

stream_out_mosaic_bridge error; image conversion failed
swscale warning; can't get output picture

VLC will play fine with 9 streams on the Mosaic but after about 4min will fail with this error. If i use less streams even 1 it will play longer but still will fail. Could there be some log or buffer that is causing this?

Sounds like coding error if it only happens after certain time.

I've tried a bunch of different things with setting and even resetting all of my preferences, still does it. If you watch the process for vlc in the task manager it keeps growing in memory and will fail every time right around 407,000kb-409,000kb.

If the memory usage grows all the time, then there is a memory leak in somewhere. Can you run same thing under Linux with valgrind?

I actually was going to try that this week, haven't got a change to yet. I'll post what the results are.
