How do I get VLC to use ffdshow?

Hi,

When I play live video using VLC I see a 2 second delay, but when I play it using ffdshow I see only 300ms delay. How do I get VLC to use ffdshow to play the video instead of the built-in codecs?

PS: Using ":tcp-caching=0 :udp-caching=0 :http-caching=0 :file-caching=0" reduces the delay to 1 second, but it's still a far cry from 300ms. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Gili

You cannot. VLC doesn't support DirectShow or VfW codecs.

Alternatively, how do I decrease the playback latency? One second seems a bit excessive.

if setting caching to 0 doesn't help, I don't know any other way.
