"VLC media Player has just crashed"

Hi guys, I used to use VLC media player as my main player until about a month ago, at which time this message started to appear. Every time I tried to open the player, not matter what type of file i tried to play, i received the message "vlc media player has just crashed. Do you want to send a bug report to the developers team". Now I got so frustrated with this that I just gave up on VLC for awhile. Today, I re-installed it to see if the problem persisted, and again, I can't even get the player open without receiving this little bugger.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dave

I have had this same problem and it is so annoying. I don't understand your fix, I have searched for a file by that name and nothing comes up. I originally was able to use VLC with the 0.9 version, but once 1.0 came out i've been getting errors left and right. I just want to watch my videos and I have no idea where the file you mentioned was located, nor can it be found.

Miangara: just type %appdata%\vlc to Windows Explorer or to start -> run

pphoenixx: you use VLC 1.0.1?

Hi,

I have the same problem. If I delete %appdata%\vlc, it comes up fine ... but ask me for some few basic settings. On one of my PCs I use vlc to stream webcams (unattended) so I can't accept any popups asking for yes/no.

1) Is there an option to tell vlc what it ask for on the first popup after deleting %appdata%\vlc+
2) or, could I make a "backup" of a good %appdata%\vlc and restore that before every start of vlc?

/Morten
