96% Playback Speed

Hi, I'm using vlc 1.0 to play a PAL dvd and I want to adjust the playback speed to compensate for the 4% speed up. I have managed to get vlc to play the dvd at 96%, but the pitch remains the same. Is there any way to slow down playback and lower the pitch at the same time? Thanks

Have you activated Scaletempo audio filter?

A very old post, I recognise, but this may answer a question of mine as well.

Can anyone help me understand what VLC_help was referring to be "Scaletempo audio filter" please? I haven't found any info on it. (Apologies if I'm being a bit slow! ;-) )

Scaletempo audio filter in VLC preferences:
Tools > Preferences > ( Show settings = All ) >
> Audio \ Filters \ Scaletempo (Audio tempo scaler synched with rate)
> Audio \ Filters: [v] Audio tempo scaler synched with rate

mederi, thanks very much for the detailed response. Really appreciated! ;-)

(As it turns out, I just came here to say I'd found it for myself, and leave a similar post for other enquirers. I don't seem to get notification of replies any more from the VLC forums. Is something broken, maybe?)
