I am fairly new to this stuff so I am just gonna explain what my issue is and hope someone can help. I am trying to convert a vcd to dvd and so I used VLC to view the file to make sure it is a good vid. Now this is where I am confused, 2 windows pop up, the one connected to the player controls the video is all scrambled like the first dvd attempt I made, but the other window that comes up says hardware yuv direct x output at the top and the video is perfect there. Would someone please explain this to me and preferrably tell me how to convert it. I am making this for my friend who had the vcd but could never watch it and it is a memorial for the death of her mother. This is extreamly importand and I truly appreciate any help. Thank you

ok I get that, I tried conversion with winavi converter and all I got was the scrambled vid. When I play this file it is a .dat file if that helps I get a scrambled image and then the other window (hardware yuv direct x output) comes up and the vid is perfect, that is what I need to convert to dvd and burn.

You can re-author VCD material to DVD directly. (just recode audio to 48 kHz)
