Telnet in Windows

On my Windows machine, when I try to connect to VLC telnet with the windows telnet (via cmd -> telnet localhost 4212), the cmd keeps asking for a password, but I can't enter one. I've tried admin, and some passwords I configured myself, but they don't work. How to fix this? Running W7. On my XP machine it does work..
