In Preferences/Interface I have "MSN now playing" enabled, to show what songs im listening to in my status on windows live messenger plus, but it only shows "playlist" as the song playing.. because i am playing an .m3u playlist.. is there any way to fix this?

It shouldn't work like that, unless the song you are playing has playlist wrote to its metadata.

these are normal songs.. and if I play them individually.. they display correctly in my "now playing"

Does your .m3u playlist contain some metadata? (you can open it with any text editor)

Add msg_Dbg( p_intf, (const char*)psz_tmp ); above SendToMSN( (const char*)psz_tmp ); in modules\misc\notify\msn.c and it will display (or flood) the name to message log when playing. And I have to get libtaglib_plugin.dll to build or test won't do any good.

ownershipx: you don't have to do anything. I have everything I need to figure this out.

Okay.. now something weird has happened.. now it displays the songs in the write place and the correct labels,, but most of the time when i double click to playlist file to start it, it freezes and i have to end the process and try again several times. I didnt do anything extra to it since i first posted...

Does removing the %appdata%\vlc folder help?

Now it frezes 80% of the time when i load it up.. and doesnt display songs anymore. this is so erratic..

What a coincidence, I just noticed today that same issue with the msn pluggin in vlc 1.0.1...

In my case I try to open a folder containing all my music... MSN shows the name of the folder and vlc crashes right there, no exception. That is in my windows boot, I will try tonight on my slackware to see if there is any difference.

correct.. have you tried removing %appdata%\vlc folder (its hidden.. you need to enable seeing hidden folder)

in slackware, with the "telepathy" plugin I have no troubles... it seems to be only in the windows version.

it hangs up... using xp with sp3 vlc 1.0.1 with the option disabled it works normally... weird :s any help please or is it a bug, iv'e found this post viewtopic.php?f=33&t=61668 but can't reply there...

I have found that WMP 12 works best, now playing with xfire, yahoo, and Windows Live Messenger flawless.

I still use VLC for movies though, its the best

yes only when loading .m3u

still no news on this? still the same thing here... btw if i disable the display the now playing song title in msn it won't hang up...
