VLC will not play movies directly from FlashGet download

Hello,
I have a feeling this could be a FlashGet issue, but I cannot find a place to post them this problem and am hoping someone else has encountered this.
Since using VLC as my main media player (WinXP - set to the default player), FlashGet now says no application is associated with any of the movie types I try and open (souble-click). I need to go to Windows explorer and open in folder.
With WMP they used to play by double-clicking on movie in the download folder.
Can this be fixed in VLC as it apparently cannot be done in FlashGet.
Thanks
Richard

Are you using VLC 1.0.0?

Thanks for the reply!
Yes 1.0.0, but I believe it's a system/environment issue. It happens with all versions of VLC, old and new.
Basically, as far as I am aware, there is no way of changing which application FlashGet defaults to when opening up a download.
It looks like it hasn't been featured in any FlashGet builds, and I was taking a long shot at resolving it via VLC directly.

I have the same problem.
I used to use zoomplayer as the default app to watch videos. Flashget would download and open them fine.
Then I installed vlc. And set it as the default application to watch videos (through Windows Explorer).
Flashget would still open them with zoomplayer.
So, I uninstalled zoomplayer.
Now when I tell Flashget to open a movie it tells me "No application is associated with for the specified file for this operation."
If I tell Flashget to open the directory, and double click on the file in Windows Explorer, VLC starts up to play, so the association seems to exist in Windows. Just not in Flashget.

you should ask flashget people which association needs to be registered
