Where is xvid option select on [convert / save] options, tick boxes or drop boxes ?

I have xvid directx encode and decode codecs installed, if that helps.

But cannot find xvid in the [convert / save] section of vlc. Where is it - or how to enable it ?

VLC cannot use external codecs (DirectShow or VfW).

Because i see some other softwares use ffmpeg that are able to transcode/encode to xvid from different formats. VLC uses ffmpeg why isn't xvid transcode/encode available for use ?

Are there immeadiate plans to make it available, xvid is widely used by many. More than you could ever imagine, so you would be doing vlc a huge favour by having it available for transcoding/encoding use.

Xvid encoding could be added but AFAIK nobody is doing it. H.264 is more interesting and most people can live with VLCs mpeg-4 simple encoding.

I don't agree, i have tried h264 on various pc setups and not one plays as steady as xvid is able to be played. So infact many people cannot use h264 with a pc upgrade which includes a new graphics card. My max pc is 2.8ghz dual core, and still that isn't enough.

Xvid is a clear all rounder runs on any pc, a no brainer for it to be added to vlc. Your priorities seemed screwed on this one, like it was for not updated vlc for years.

Your not all women by any chance (stubborn, unable to see the right path) ?

You don't need new display adapter to decode H.264. And your dualcore machine should decode most H.264 videos (VLC might have problems with them but for example MPCHC should play them).
