Can I turn "Buff: 100%" off?

Just started using 1.0.0 and I'm finding this new buffer thing extremely annoying...pretty much to the point that I'll have to go back to using Media Player. When I try to slide the time toolbar to a specific time in the video "Buff: 100%" pops up right where the time is and I can't see to get to the specific time I am trying to get to. I know I can go to the menu and "jump to a specific time" but I am usually controlling my computer by the wireless mouse a long way from the keyboard and therefor I am unable to type the time in. And since it doesn't start back up where I left off I have to do this any time I go back to watch a video I already started...or even if I just want to rewind a bit to watch something again...so it's kind of an important feature. Is there any settings that I am not aware of that can turn it off or that can make it so it resumes a closed video at the last position viewed? Thanks in advance.

Last position resume isn't in VLC. There have been multiple requests for it.

What about losing the "Buff: 100%" that covers up the time? Any way to do that? What I am watching has already been downloaded so there shouldn't be a need for any buffering...

VLC doesn't store downloaded video to hard drive or to memory like for example Flash based players do. So VLC fetches data again on most skip operations if stream allows it.

It still shows the "Buff..." text (covering the time display) for local files stored on the hard drive. This makes it difficult to locate a specific time on a video because it gets covered by "Buff". Anyway to resolve this?

Not without code changes.

Not without code changes.
Fair enough. Will this be fixed in the next release?

I'd like to second this request. It's very difficult to slide to a certain spot when the 100% is covering the time. You don't have to get rid of the 100%, just move it to somewhere else on the screen. Thanks.

I'd like to 'third' this request. The display of "Buff: 0%" and "Buff 100%" over the top of the time stamp is just plain annoying.
This should appear somewhere else, or not at all. Furthermore, if it is not a true progress indicator (i.e. only 0% or 100% and nothing in between), then a simple red-lamp/green-lamp icon would probably be more useful, with an explanatory tip upon mouseover (mouse hover).
Other than that VLC Media Player 1.0.2 is a significant improvement over 0.8.6f.

I would like to "fourth" this request. Until this is fixed, I will stick with 0.9.9, which doesn't have this "feature."

I'll have to fifth this request!
I really like the new 1.0.x, except for the "Buff: 100%" all over the time box everytime forwarding using the progress bar. So for now I've downgraded to 0.9.9.
Thank you
