i don't know whether this is a troubleshooting question or not. a feature come back req maybe.......

in vlc 0.9, i was able to seek in unfinished downloads. this was not possible in other players and i liked vlc much for that. consider when i m downloading a video from youtube. i was able to play and even seek through the unfinished downloaded file. but with vlc 1.0, i m able to play the unfinished download but not seek in it.

Please can someone explain what has happened......

Nope. YouTube also deals MP4 files.

You have some partial sample file we could use to repeat the issue?

sorry. the file which had this problem has completed download. but i will surely check for any other files that show this problem.. and i will post as soon as i find one.

i found another file which causes the same problem. I tested it with vlc 0.9 installed on my comp and with vlc 1.0 downloaded from portable apps. my system is win xp sp2.

I downloded the plain flv version of Michael Jackson The Way You Make Me Feel HD using firefox's downloader. so it will just download from the starting rather than downloading in segments.

i found that the seek bar is very unstable and wouldn't let me seek even in the downloaded parts. it just stops playback when i seek and in the worst case crash.the seek slider doesn't even start from the leftmost during playback... maybe there's something that needs to be reworked here...

vlc 0.9 lets me seek in the downloaded part and will stop playback only when i try to seek to undownloaded parts. it hasn't crashed during seeking...

prakreet: you downloaded MP4 or FLV version?
