Recorded video freezes, audio drops

Hi,

I love VLC! I've been using for about 2-3 years now and I always recommend to to friends and family. I'm using VLC RC4 on Windows XP with 1G of RAM on a Pentium 4 3GHz.

I don't know if the Record feature is new, but I've just started using it and love it! I mainly the Record feature to make clips from DVDs I've created. I'm having a small problem with both DVD playback and playback of the recorded clips I've made with VLC RC4. When I play a DVD, either a homemade one or from a studio, playback freezes for about a second before it resumes playback. And when I playback a clip I've recorded with VLC RC4, the part where the video froze, the video also freezes but usually a bit longer than during playback. A small nudge of the seek bar resumes playback. I don't know if this is an issue with my computer or VLC RC4. I am happy to say that during the previous RC releases, DVD playback was not possible but it's been fixed in RC4.

Also during playback of recorded clips, the sounds cuts and comes back.

Is this a bug in the current release candidate or it is something related to my computer?

Any help/suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Could you try VLC 1.0.0 final? If the issue still exist, then open Tools -> Messages... (set Verbosity to 2) and it should print some warnings/errors when problems happen.

I tried it with VLC 1.0.0 but now I think it might be the DVD itself? I'm trying to record a portion of a DVD I made. VLC is great for it, but I think the problem now might not actually be VLC but the DVD? The strange thing is that now the clip is freezing at a different time, such earlier, than before. I tried a suggestion I saw her on the VLC forums are saving the DVD content to the hard drive and then recording the clip but that didn't help.

I did the suggestion your said about warning errors. I'll see if any pop up. VLC has been a great program so far
