Where are navigation/fullscreen controls?

Hey, sorry for a major n00b question, but I've been using VLC on Mac without a problem, but lately I've had to use it on Windows - same version, 0.99, but I can't seem to find two of the most useful features that the Mac version has: the navigation floater in fullscreen mode, and the buttons to navigate back and forth ten seconds. There's the skip forward/back buttons (which don't do any good when you're just playing one video) and there are even slowdown/speed up buttons, but no basic navigation. Where are these?

Full screen controller might vanish sometimes, but there is a trick to make it come back.

And 1.1.0 allows you to customize the GUI button placement so you can add back and forth buttons to GUI.

But is there no way to navigate backwards and forwards in 0.99? That's what the machine I'm using has, and it's also the latest version used in the portable VLC I found on portableapps.com.

There are hotkeys, but not GUI element. I typoed the version number, VLC 1.0.0 has customize button options.

Yeah, I just downloaded 1.0.0, and it has mostly what I'm looking for, so while I'm very curious why one would put out such a full-featured and powerful media player that lacks as basic a feature as GUI skip back/forward, I'll drop it :)

What I'm wondering now is how to add buttons to the fullscreen navigator (the one that pops up when you move the mouse, not the one in "fullscreen mode" that doesn't disappear). I was able to add the buttons I wanted to the regular GUI, but not for fullscreen....

You have to restart VLC to have the new fullscreen.

and how about with the current version which unless it updated itself I have done nothing with, I have also since I couldn't fix it deleted it and re-installed it and the controls disappear with the exception of a slider when in fullscreen

I HATE this crap so much, it's next to impossible to see what I'm doing from my exercise bike that I'm watching the stupid laptop from and controlling w/ a wireless mouse

re-read my posting please, I am asking about

"the current version" aka 1.1.11

I am having the exact same problem this dude had with the slight difference that I see a 'slider' in full screen. The older I get the less I give a crap about operating software, I cannot figure out how to get back the perfectly useable floating screen controls I would get at the wiggle of a mouse the past two or so years with VLC

You can reset VLC settings by removing %appdata%\vlc folders.
