Suddenly No Picture from a Certain Drive - WHY???

Postby Spaniel » 10 Jun 2009 03:34

Hello, it's my first post and guess what - I'm begging for help!

I've used VLC for years with no problems, but suddenly this weird problem has emerged:

When I play files from my E Drive I get sound, but only a blank screen. If I copy the file to another drive, like my C Drive for example, it will then play fine.

I have tried reading around on this forum and on the wiki to find out why this might be, but I can't find anything - does any compassionate Samaritan have any idea what the problem could be??? Does VLC just hate my E Drive all of a sudden??!

Many thanks to anyone kind enough to reply!

it must be a problem of screensaver: i have had the same when i have tried to customised my XP pro.
a file is created (blankscreen)from windows ,it is normal and whithout danger.
it is a NUL communication/application.
start again, and delete *temp, uninstall the wrong soft then all must be clean and work well.
of course do not install again custom desk widget for example..
If your problem is coming from this, vlc is not concerned. If it is not that,
i hope you will find a good help from someone else.

You get any error messages to VLC message log (Tools -> Messages... and set Verbosity to 2) when you open files from E drive?
