VLC takes ages to load.

Hello,
I am msk, and i am new to this. I have been using VLC for a very long time and this has not happened before, until a few days back. Whenever i click on any video/music file (that opens with VLC) it would take around 3-4 minutes to open and start running. I am using version 0.8.6e, and i tried updating too, but that did not help, so i went back to this. So is there anything that i can do to make it load faster (like it used to).

I am using windows xp service pack 3.

Thank You.

No.
Open My Computer, go to Tools, Folder Options, View, check show hidden files and folders and press OK.
Then, from My computer, go to C drive, or where you've installed Win XP, go to documents and settings, (username), application data, and delete VLC folder.

After you remove %appdata%\vlc and start VLC it should recreate cache and next start after this one should be fast.
