SPDIF / AC3 Buzz after end of video

I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this bug? Searching didn't turn up anything and I'm not sure if it's a VLC issue or something else.

After the end of watching some videos I get a high pitched screeching buzz out of my receiver/speakers. I think it mostly (maybe only) happens with 720p video with AC3 audio. Turning my receiver off/on stops it. It's only started happening since I hooked up my receiver/amp/stereo up via optical out from my laptop to get 5.1 surround. I'm going to start trying to reproduce it and troubleshoot it, but I was just wondering if I was alone in this (leading me to believe it's not VLC) or if other have it (leading me to believe it might be VLC).

Thanks in Advance

So even if you close the VLC, the buzz continues?

Good question... not sure... I usually grab my remote and turn off the receiver (or change inputs) as fast as possible... I run VLC on a laptop connected to my TV via VNC, so getting into it to shut down VLC quickly doesn't happen. However, for the sake of trouble shooting I'll get up off my lazy butt and walk across the room to shut down VLC to see what happens. I really am leaning toward it not being a VLC issue, but wanted to know if I was alone in this. It doesn't do it consistently, I'll also look to see if I can make it repeatable... Thanks.

Ok, finally happened again and I'm almost certain it's NOT VLC's fault. It continues after VLC is closed, in fact it continues coming out of the receiver/home theater speakers even after I unplug the optical cable... so apparently it's in the receiver.

With the cable plugged in Muting/Unmuting the audio on the computer sometimes changes the buzz into the looping echo/warble type noise... but again... it's doesn't come out of the laptop speakers when unplug, so I'm sure it's in the receiver.
