Postby Majkic666 » 25 May 2009 18:38

hey

when i watch a tv-show that is in .avi it works, but after a few episodes, VLC crashes out of the blue while i'm watching the tv-show.
After it crashed i try to play the show again nothing happens, then i try some other videos and movies still nothing, and then i press in my menu VLC so the program starts, and the program opens and crashes, the program is only open for lees then a second.

the only way i cen get the problem fixed is by restarting my computer, but after i restared my computer and watched few episodes, it does the same thing again.

plz help me fix this problem permenantly

You can try different VLC versions in case it helps.
Either upcoming VLC 1.0.0 (release candidate 1 aka "rc1" available, see link1) or VLC 0.9.9 if you was not using it (see link 2).

link1: http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/testing/ (note that rc1 is not the final VLC 1.0.0 which does not exists yet)
link2: http://www.videolan.org/vlc

Before trying to install, make sure all VLC and web-browsers processes are stopped. I think you have remaining buggy VLC processes, you can look with your task manager (ctrl+alt+suppr).
The ultimate way is to prepare the installer, reboot and run it just after having rebooted.

Use .exe installer if you want to install VLC. Use .zip or .7z package if you want to extract VLC to somewhere and use it from there.

yeah i have tryed that but it keeps sayin error when i try to install,

it is writen in danish so i will try to translate it a bit further down:
fejl ved skrivning af fil:
"c:\programer\videolan\vlc\vlc.exe."
tryk afbryd for at afbryde installationen
Prøv igen for at prøve at skrive til filen, eller
Ignorer for at springe over denne fil

translated as good as possible
error writing file:
"c:\program files\videolan\vlc\vlc.exe."
press cancel to abort the installation
Try again to try to write to file, or
Ignore to skip this file

if i press try again i get the same message
if i press ignore the same error comes up whit the next file and next again etc.

so i hope you can see my problem by reinstalling it

You are sure there isn't any vlc.exe instance running in task manager when you start the installer?

If there will be working libavcodec soon, then yes.
