I am using the Logitech Z 5500 speakers, connected to an onboard sound card (Asus p5E mobo) through optical fiber. Also having speakers connected analog with Creative x-fi audio sound card (it doesnt have a spdif output).

The problem is that when i try to playback DTS or DD audio files (or mkv with DTS DD content),the sounf is choppy.
I have read other members having the same problem, tested the latest nighty builds, but nothing worked.

Any clues? I d be glad if you could explain me what to do.( im having the same problem with all players i have tested)
TIA

Use WaveOut Audio output
tried it but didnt work.
Could you please let me know from the very start (codec packs to install, preferences to select at the player's options ,etc..) I might be missing something.
I can't enjoy the full potentials of these great speakers

VLC doesn't need anything else. Everything is built-in in VLC. So if audio is choppy with waveout (you restarted VLC after the change) then there is nothing you can do.

I have the same exact problem with MKV's and AVI's that have DD5.1 and DTS audio, but I run SPDIF out of an XFI to my receiver. Without fail every time I watch a movie, at about 40-50min into it, first the audio gets unsynched with the video, and then soon after the sound starts to chop, where it will go silent for 0.5-1sec and then come back for 2 secs.

To fix it, I have to completely stop the video, then find the place where I left off with the slider bar at the bottom, and it's back to normal again. It does this with ALL files, so I know it's not 1 or 2 corrupted videos.

I use the wave32 output option.
