Can't listen to any streaming internet radio - Shoutcast...

I can't listen to any streaming internet radio in VLC Media Player 0.9.9 Grishenko on Windows XP SP2. The software I have on this computer is Ad-aware v8.0.4, Comodo Firewall 3.8.65951.477, Avast v4.8. I was able to listen to the internet radio early on this computer on Shoutcast.com built in web player but then ceases to play now. I tried disabling the Antivirus and Firewall, but it didn't help. These are the error message I'm getting :
Errors Box:
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL '
http://72.26.204.18:6306'. Check the log for details.

Message Box:

access_mms error: cannot connect to 72.26.204.18:6306

It doesn't just do this for this IP/port put it does it for other IP's/ports for the same and different radio stations on the internet. Any help would greatly be appreciated. I tried ping'ing the IP to see if my computer could reach it and I recieved a ping reply.

If your computer cannot connect to the host, neither can VLC.

You can use tracert (traceroute) command to figure out where traffic stops. And then bother network admins of problematic network.

I have a similar error, VLC 1.0.1 on Win XP. When I open the playlist, I get the following errors:
Code: Select all
access_http error: cannot connect to mafreebox.freebox.fr:80
main warning: connection timed out
access_mms error: cannot connect to mafreebox.freebox.fr:80
main warning: no access module matching "http" could be loaded
main debug: TIMER module_need() : 10164.000 ms - Total 10164.000 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 10164.000 ms)
main debug: waitpipe: object killed
main error: open of `http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u' failed: (null)
main debug: TIMER input launching for 'Freebox TV' : 10168.000 ms - Total 10168.000 ms / 1 intvls (Avg 10168.000 ms)
I don't even know what that freebox thing is... I don't get any station in the shoutcast list, don't know if this is because of that error. On my Mac VLC works fine and opens the stationlist for shoutcast... is there anything I can configure?

Only Shoutcast update option is this
--shoutcast-show-adult, --no-shoutcast-show-adult
Show shoutcast adult content (default
disabled)
Show NC17 rated video streams when using shoutcast video playlists.
(default disabled)
and I cannot open
http://mafreebox.freebox.fr/freeboxtv/playlist.m3u either.

This is infuriating: Every time I launch VLC or launch a movie file or URL, this damned error box pops up 5 seconds later. I HATE IT.
Why is the freebox.tv url hardcoded in libshout_plugin.dll? why isn't it a configuration item? Why does VLC hit all these network resources on every startup anyway? Isn't that really bad form, given the number of VLC users launching VLC?
Why is videolan using synchronous POP UP notifications???? This is terrible for a movie player where the point is to SEE MY MEDIA. not interact with what VLC is doing behind the scenes to update its playlist.

Why is the freebox.tv url hardcoded in libshout_plugin.dll?
It is used to fetch Freebox listing. (shoutcast URLs are also hardcoded)
I posted message to mailing list. Hopefully there will be some sort of solution in next VLC release.

I could even live with the popup, if only the shoutcast list would be filled...

got a workaround so far... disable Shoutcast in the Settings, then when you open the playlist, right-click into it and use "Services" (or whatever it's called in your language, in german it's "Diensteerkennung") and select shoutcast there. A bit more clicks, but at least it works.
And who the heck had the idea to hardcode servers into an application?

? I don't see "services" or something similar in German?
Where do you right click? In your playlist? I am using v1.0.2

when you click on shoutcast in the options menu it adds the word shout to the input field. just replace shout with shoutcast.
