video opens with a very small screen

when i open a video with this program the viewing screen is about 3" x 3"; when i try to enlarge it to full screen it's blurry/distorted. the videos are HD and taken at live concerts. if i use another program to open them, they open full screen but don't play correctly which is why i downloaded this program.
