Audio output issues?

Postby Sporky » 24 Apr 2009 22:03

I have alot of video files (avi, mkv, vob) that has Dolby Digital 5.1 encoded. My comp is conected to my receiver via Optical Cable.
When I select the proper audio device A/52 over S/PDIF the sound is choppy and stutters. I either have to use Stereo or 5.1. But the 5.1 settings is not Dolby Digital.
So how can i fix this problem.

Thank you.

This issue could be from Windows security policy. I have a similar problem using direct connection to speakers on a Soundblaster eXtreme audio in 4/4.1 mode. The player detects surround sound as 2 channel stereo over a52, and I do not receive the videos in AC3/a52 mode. I am still working on this but have not found a working solution yet.

Well thank you, Win32 waveOut worked. No more poping/cracking sound. Now I can watch movies they way it's meant to be heard.
Thank you.
