.mkv and RGB output range.

Whenever I play .mkv files in VLC they're noticabley over-bright (Black levels suffer) and I was wondering if there's anyway to adjust the RGB output range, for example with CoreAVC you can select either 16-235 or 0-255, VLC seems to be defaulting at 16-235 and I was wondering is there anyway to change this? Thanks in advance!

This issue is not VLC, but your graphic card driver. Deactivate RGB->YUV hardware conversions in preferences, video.

I disabled (unchecked) RGB->YUV conversion but the problem still occured, But if I also uncheck Use hardware acceleration the problem goes away (I have proper black levels) is this a normal fix? or can I get this working properly with hardware accell enabled? Im using an EVGA Geforce GTX 260 videocard / Win XP, Thanks.

Yes this is normal. Complain to nVidia!
