Hello,

is it possible to let the VLC ActiveX component handle embedded mov files in Internet Explorer 6 ? I have installed the component, but it still asks me for install Quicktime when enter a site with embedded mov. I will not install quicktime on the machines and vlc supports mov. I can not update the IE or use another browser.

If I remember correclty, many (at least) websites embed their video using a long HTML code like (very roughly) :

Code: Select all

<embed class="01234-012345-012356-0123456"> or <object uid="0123456-0123456-01234566"> .. optional arguments .. </embed> or </object>
If it is the case for your website, then more probably the long identifier is quicktime one. Maybe the website have been design to work with quicktime. It will not be so easy to make it use VLC in this case.

Have you an example website to look at it?

HI,

Im mean every website which has an embedded quicktime movie, like this : http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/content/ ... Popup=true
There you also can choose a vlc stream, but not in IE. This is a good example: How can i choose "quicktime" and the playback starts with vlc and not asking me for quicktime install...
(simply choose a video in IE , to to play, then choose "quicktime").

AFAIK VLC ActiveX component cannot emulate QuickTime.
