VLC WON'T PLAY WAV FILES

Postby 1goodmike » 09 Apr 2009 03:40

I get the following message when I try to play wav files on my VLC: "VLC can't recognize the input's format:" It plays videos just fine. There have been recent changes to my system. First it is the new version of VLC, just recently updated my older version. Second, I recently changed my ISP which included "Windows Live" which tried to take over everything and I have since deleted it entirely from my system and reloaded VLC as default player. I have a Voip phone which takes voicemail in wav format. When I try to play messages from the computer I get the above message (can't recognize). I am not given an "open with" feature to select a different payer and VLC is the only option since it is the default player Is there maybe a configuration or something that needs to be set? I am running Windows XP. I am also going to post this under "General VLC Troubleshooting" so don't get mad if you see it there.

Can you post a sample of these WAV files that you can't play ?
