Free VLC download with code, paying and malware.

saturday 28-03-09 I downloaded VLC from http://www.vlc-full.info/nl/
The website information on google says:
VLC Player
Vlc-full.info/nl Download the New VLC Player New Free Version Available Here
So I downloaded it. Scant it with two malware scanners and installed.
While installing it asked for a code to be send bij sms, I followed the instructions.
There where send to me four sms and I had to pay 1,50 euro for each of them, that seems not to be free software to me.
I entered the code. After installing I could not find the program in software or installed programs.
I maild to the helpdesk of the site. I asked several questions but the only reply I got was how to install it.
Now I know why that was the only reply. McAfee went down, the firewall stopped. I could not uninstalled McAfee and install it again because alle the text in McAfee disappeert. The computer seemed to manage itself.
With help of aan expert forum I managed to delete a few infected files, it costed me two and a half day.
I use windows XP on one computer and ubuntu on another. So I know what freeware is its free from charges and it
should not carry malware.
I want to warn everybody and my question is is there something to do against these people?
