When using the Help / Check for Updates...
I get "an error occured while checking for updates"

Is this a bug / VLC issue or Windows issue?
What can be done to fix the update checker / feature?

VLC 0.9.8a Grishenko
Winxp SP3 - 2 GB Ram - 1.60 Dual core CPU

I've allowed VLC in the Firewall, no Luck there...
Do you know the port and is it UDP or TCP ?

Maybe in VLC 1.1.x. It was removed from 1.0.0

VLC 1.0.0 I built last weekend doesn't have Help -> Update menu item. So I assumed it was removed because the feature won't be in final 1.0.0

So is the update feature supposed to work?
I have latest version 0.9.8a (I hope...)

There isn't working update in 0.9.x series. 1.0.0 has update feature.

Not yet. Just tried version 1.0.0-pre1-20090401-0028 Goldeneye, and there is still this annoying error message when checking for updates.

pls i need the program comunicate with internet , why cant update ?? have windows 7 ultimate and use the programs to view live programs tv
