trying to stream RTP from machine to machine on LAN

Postby tinyang » 20 Mar 2009 03:09

I am trying to do a few things. I'm trying to stream either a wmv file via RTP or RTP over UDP or USB webcam from one computer to the other on a LAN, and I'm also trying to access the http interface to access from one machine to the other. I tried it both ways, to open a stream or to access the http interface from both machines. I can stream successfully from both machines (but I can't open the stream on the other machine), both computers can ping each other, and have firewalls turned off. I have cranked up the TTL setting. I can receive the wmv stream on the same machine via RTP. I tried adding the IP of the other machine to the C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\\http\.hosts file, but still not having any luck with any of this. Can anyone suggest something I should try?

Here is my log file:

.hosts file is only for HTTP user interface. So it doesn't matter when you try to do streaming. Could you tell us your streaming command-line from VLC?

Hi VLC_help and thanks for the reply. I actually did get the http interface working (I put my IP in the wrong section of the .hosts file). But I still can't stream.

Here is my command line command from the computer doing the streaming:
:sout=#duplicate{dst=display,dst=rtp{dst=192.168.254.29,mux=ts,port=1234}} :sout-all :sout-keep

Here is my command line from the computer trying to receive the stream:
rtp://@192.168.254.26:1234
