How to restrict access to VLC web interface?

Postby globaltrasher » 26 Feb 2009 20:10

Hi,

I have one simple question. Just like in the subject - can that be done? I mean, access to be allowed only with password, similar to telnet interface access?

Thanks!

AFAIK there isn't any password protection option. .hosts file is only method for access prevention.

Thank you, that's what I thought. Would 0.8.6i support .hosts file then? I looked into /http/old/ folder, and .hosts is not there. I need to use 0.8.6i as this is the last build capable of streaming H.264 + AAC without crashing...

You might want to try 1.0.0 builds, they should have working x264 encoder and .hosts option.
