pause lag

hi,

when i was using a previous version of vlc (i think it was 0.8.5), i had no problems with the player at all. after updating to version 0.9.8 i can hardly use the vlc player anymore...
one of the main problems is the pause lag: at some videos it takes many seconds from the click on the pause button until the image freezes. moreover, if i jump to another time position of the video, it starts playing, still it takes seconds until the picture is shown...

how can i solve these problems?

Problematic videos are WMV or AVI ones?

@ j-b: will post a file as soon as i find a short one...

@ vlc_help: problematic seem to be only wmv and mpg.

further problems:
- when i jump to another time position of the video, it starts playing only audio, while video remains to be the frozen picture of the previous time position.
- or after jumping the new picture starts with heavy compression artefacts, which disappear after a while....
- sometimes the video starts playing with black screen for a some seconds...

WMV and ASF files have this issue. It is little better in upcoming 1.0.0 release.
