Can't maximize VLC on secondary monitor

I have the latest jb-release of VLC, and I have also tried the latest official release, but my problem is still remaining.

I have found a couple of threads discussing this issue, but I can't find any solution that works for me.
How can I set my VLC to be able to maximize on my secondary monitor?

You want maximize or full screen on second monitor?

am having similar problem with fullscreen on second monitor when watching video.

previously using version 0.8.6.0 i would need to drag the initial interface onto second screen before loading any video, then fullscreen.
otherwise dragging the screen between monitors would result in a black viewing are with sound.

with this 0.9.8.1 version using this process results in the fullscreen appearing on the main monitor (rather than the secondary), with a black viewing area.

am using XP on a dell vostro 1200 notebook.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be squashed yet. At least two users including myself have tested 1.0.0 and found that problem still extant.

The post linked below contains an offsite link to a build that seems to have squashed this bug:
