i have some bluescreens without any massage.. on vista 64bit home pre.
i use a nvidia 8800gt 512mb
on a asus p5n-t deluxe (intel quad 9450 with 4gb)
i cant find the problem

anyone got the same problems?

Driver issue. When does it happen?

i think all the drivers are ok..
i got a hardware problem maybe..
High Precision Event Timer (HPET) on my mainboard

the problem starts with a playlist with more as 10 file (different files (mixed avi,mpg,wmv etc.)) after 5-10min from playbegin
and.. on fullscreenmode.. i got a nice instantBluescreen but not with a single file

but.. im not realy sure at the moment (still on testing)

Blue Screens are driver or hardware related. The text on Blue Screen usually tells what component caused the problem.

hmm... that is realy a unlucky thing..

it should be similar to that. On best case, it shows the name of .dll file that caused the crash.

Actually, no. As you can see here from Microsoft's site: "Your computer has hardware or software problems (hardware failure is the most common cause)."

This is in relation to the BSOD I get after closing down VLC player. It doesn't happen everytime but it happens enough to make me really cautious about using vlc. The error I get is 0X0000007f without any mention of a driver or hardware issue. The setup I have now is brand new for the past 2 weeks and it's BSOD on this program twice. The setup I had before then had the same behavior. I also tested the ram with memtest86 for 17 hours with no errors and the hard drive is fine as seagate's diag program shows. And, obviously I have a new MB from a Gigabyte to an Asus board using two different chipsets.

This error is kind of new, as in i've only seen it appear within the last 6 months or so.

BSOD can only be caused by hardware failures or kernel-mode (mostly kernel and drivers) software failure. VLC does not run in kernel mode, so it cannot cause a BSOD. You may get a BSOD as a consequence of using VLC, if some VLC interacts with a buggy kernel-mode components, typically a buggy video or audio driver.

In any case, this cannot be solely a VLC bug.
