Jean-Baptiste: Thank you for your imput. Now, if you could just explain what you're talking about & how to do it, that would be greatly appreciated. Please explain it as if you're talking to a total computer IDIOT, because you are. LOL
Thanks Again......Debbie

You can select the different formats to associate VLC with when installing VLC. Alternatively, as j-b said, you can select the file associations after installation. IIRC it is in the Start Menu (Start >> Programs >> VideoLAN...) or maybe in VLC's Preferences.
If you can't find it then just reinstall VLC (just run the installer *.exe again), and select the file types you want to associate in the installer wizard.

How can I set VLC to autoplay a DVD when it is inserted into the drive?

Do you get "Open with VLC media player" in the Autoplay popup when you insert a DVD? If not you might need to reinstall VLC with Context menus enabled.

I thought my question was clear...
When I put a DVD is the computer, I want VLC Media player to startup and play the movie. No prompts, no clicks, no typing.
This is how it works for me with WinDVD now. I put in a DVD, close door and WinDVD launches and plays the movie. Presto.
I want to ditch WinDVD and use VLC. WinDVD has a switch in the preference panel to Autoplay. There isnt any such switch in VLC. So, question is, do you, or anyone, know how to get that same functionality with VLC? Is it possible?

As random said you need to tell Windows to use VLC to play DVDs. The reason I said about the "Play with VLC media player" option in the Autoplay menu is that with that you should just be able to select that as you preferred option. If WinDVD always starts without prompting you then you'll need to change the autoplay from WinDVD first.
You should be able to change the autoplay option using e.g. this method:

Providing that VLC media player is one of the options for DVD-Video.
