Realaudio doesn't work? Maybe not in 0.8.4, but it's supposed to work in newer versions.

VLC has all the codecs build-in. So installing any codecs doesn't help VLC. And that sample doesn't crash VLC. It doesn't work properly with 0.9.8a but does work properly with 1.0.0 nightlies.
