Cannot figure our why I can't view my stream...

I am trying to figure out why I can't view a stream accross a network. The guides I have found dont seem to address the errors i am getting. Here is what I am doing.
I have no firewall on my computers or my lan.
My lan is setup on 192.168.2.xxx
I have enabled streaming interface in the options.
Here is my .host file:

I open VLC...media...open capture device...select my usb cam...alt s for stream.click play localy...click http and put in the address of the host computer.
Then I profile and select windows (wmv/asf)...and click stream.
At this point my cam appears.
Then I go to tools...add interface...console...and I add web interface.
I then get this in the console:

Now I open VLC on my laptop which is connected wirelessly to my network. I go to play network...click http...and add the ip address of the host computer.
Of course it will not connect.
I suspect that I need to change the settings in the .host file to match my network settings, but I tried doing that as well and I get nothing. I apologize for the length of this post but I am a novice computer tech and I understand the value of giving all the information possible.
Any help anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
