Issues with 0.9.6 Win XP

The build is better.
My issues are that the picture will freeze and look scrambled during playback of file, while sound continues.
When you go into extended settings, graphic equalizer, there's an enable box that you can tick.
Well it never stays ticked, and when i do tick it ,the sound is louder, better, but i have to keep checking that it's ticked.
Which i never had to do with the 0.86 series.
The seamless VOB playback was my lack of knowledge, once i got IFO edit, everything's fine in that department.
So my apologies to the developers for that mistake.
My thanks to the developers anyway,it's still my 1st choice for media player.
Just thought i could give you a little info which ,might help with next build. :)

1. CPU peaking?

2. Equalize is a known bug.

3. I will make video_ts opening better soon.

No CPU's a dual core,i've got 5.6Gig to play with,im lucky if my CPU's even half stretched most of the time.

One core can peak and give issues.

Well i've got 2 and i've never seen it peak.
Also a friend who has VLC has a similar problem sometimes it'll show only a quarter of the picture, the rest being blank.

VLC can mostly use only one core for video decoding. So it doesn't matter if you have 100 cores, if video decoding thread peaks the CPU/core it uses, image will freeze. In addition to that. libavcodec decoder sometimes stalls on people, specially when you move the time slider or rewind/forward. Your friend has this issue with all video files?

2. Equalize is a known bug.
If Equalize is a known bug,why hasn't it been rectified for 0.9.8?

Most devs don't use EQ. And it works OK on Mac OS X.

2. Equalize is a known bug.
If Equalize is a known bug,why hasn't it been rectified for 0.9.8?
Because people work on what they want.

Dear All.

I discovered Videolan VLC some four years ago, it is wonderfully simple to use and amazingly adept at displaying various video and audio formats. Compared with the bloatware of Windows media player and the ridiculous complexity and intrusive secret information sending of Realplayer it is a revelation. So far, so good. However, I have one question, - if I check the graphic equalizer and define one mode, pop, large hall or classsical, why does it never maintain that setting to the next audio track? Is there some way I can ensure the continuation of the setting? Your expert knowledge/support/advice/sneering condescension would be much appreciated.

60 years old but only confused about this problem.

suavely: Use Tools -> Preferences... to force the right EQ settings. Extended settings dialog is broken.

Hi there !

I have the same issue on vlc since the last 2 releases: the video is freezing but the sound still plays. I thought it was a CPU peak, but the problem persists when nothing is running on the PC, even if I just boot it, and when I play the video on Windows Media Player, it doesn't freeze, but i'm a fan of VLC so i want to use it.

Freezes completely and forever; or only freezes for short period when you move time slider or rewind/forward?

The video freezes, but not the sound, and if i move the slider somewhere it has freezed before, it doesn't freeze.

I don't know if it sounds clear to you, but the freeze is independant of the time of the video.

EDIT: i *think* I already had this issue whith 0.9.4, but not 100% sure. Hope it could help :)

That is the libavcodec issue. Nothing you can do about it.
