Is VLC dual-monitor aware?

Is there a way to have VLC automatically play content on a second monitor without dragging the video window off to the monitor in question (like how PowerPoint works)?

I use fullscreen mirroring to play the video in fullscreen on a tv while the primary monitor is in a window which works unless your display driver does not supoort it.

Unless mirroring is a feature in VLC, that'll hose up the PowerPoint setup we're using, unfortunately.

If you use DirectX output, you can select the default screen from VLC settings. Tools -> Preferences... (Show settings: All) and Video -> Output modules -> DirectX and select the second display from dropdown box. (Save and restart VLC)

I gave that a whirl and all it appears to do is pull up a blank white window on the main monitor (when the output is set to \\display2) and doesn't play until I drag the window over to the right monitor. Is that by design? If I set it back to \\display1 video plays fine on the main monitor.
Running an older Nvidia FX5900XT vid card with current drivers, WinXP SP3 fully patched, latest version of VLC.

The nearest program I can find that'll do what I'm looking for is MatrixDvD but video playback quality isn't very good and there is no direct DVD menu navigation system (i.e. you can't seem to pull up the root DVD menu easily). So...I'm hoping there's a workaround for VLC.

Your hardware doesn't support Acceleration on the video output. Deactivate it.

Where would I find the video acceleration option? Is that in VLC or the display properties? What's it called exactly?
