using non-default sound device?

Ok so I remember there was a trick (possibly a nightly; unsure) where I could get VLC to use a non-default sound device to play audio via a settings tweak. It's been a few months since I've had VLC installed, and now I can't seem to find it.

I like to have my game and system sounds running through a USB headset (Default audio device) and my multimedia running through speakers on a different sound card.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Overkill

Tools -> Preferences... (Show settings: All) and Audio -> Output modules and select Win32 waveOut, then Audio -> Output modules -> Waveout and select the right device, hit Save and restart VLC.
