hi everybody,
i've tried to search for somethings as in the topic. but i couldn't sure if windows VLC also support stream(play) media content from Upnp/DLNA server.
i found some posts in 2006 that saying linux version able to compile with upnp client and the server list will appear in the playlist.
i am not sure if the windows version of VLC is supporting upnp. is it the same that the server name will appear in the playlist as well?
actually i am trying to setup a mediatomb as a server, and VLC as client to stream video in my room with different computers, so that all family members able to utilise it.
anybody can help me on this topic? thank you.

VLC 1.0.0 is already in nightlies, but UPNP support hasn't been merged to it.

It isn't a perfect solution but if you use your browser to navigate to the file you wish to play from your Media Server, copy the link location, you can paste that into the VLCPlayer->Media->Open Network...->Address section and it'll stream that specific media.

I think mediatomb uses POST to navigate within itself so there's no nice links to copy and paste. It also uses frames, but opening the individual frame with the track list doesn't seem to work either (losing POST info?).
I'm evaluating UPNP media servers/players/control points etc with a view to buying a Linn streaming player. It's a very frustrating world because a) there's a lack of decent software (and VLC seems very nice so it's a little disappointing it doesn't work with UPNP media yet!) and b) the UPNP meda server/client protocols don't appear to me to be very universal at all - it's a lottery as to whether server software A works with client B. I'm not 100% sure it'll ever catch on, just for this reason.
